SmartGenealogy is a genealogy software application that helps with keeping records of multiple individuals, tracing the relations between them, and storing details about dates and places of birth, marriage, divorce, death, and other events in their life. It can be installed on all Windows versions out there.

The user interface looks overwhelming at a first glance because the utility has many features to offer so you need to experiment with the built-in parameters in order to understand how it works. The application offers you the freedom to add new persons in the database by providing information about the surname, first name, social security number, physical description, note, source, and other items. SmartGenealogy lets you add several events in the database by entering details about the date, place, source, cause, note, and spouse info for marriages and divorces. The tool works with non-religious events (e.g. adoption, divorce, graduation, marriage, occupation, retirement, will) and religious events (e.g. baptism, blessing, confirmation, endowment).

Source references can be added to the database by specifying the author, publication, repository, text, abbreviation, title, and note. You may also store information about places, get details about the location, country, and latitude/longitude coordinates, as well as preview places on a map.

Other important options worth being mentioned enable you to include multimedia files, add repository references to your database by filling in details about the name, address, and phone number, identify persons with a number of children greater than a given value, and display a timeline with the persons in the database.

SmartGenealogy gives you the possibility to create multiple database files in preferred locations on your system. Plus, you may open, rename, delete, or close a database file, import information from GEDCOM files, add data from Excel items, as well as restore a database.
